Ekoplaza is the pioneering, 100% organic Dutch grocery store who made headlines for launching the world’s first plastic-free pop-up store at their location in West in 2018. The experiment was a success, and now plastic-free items are available across all Ekoplaza stores. Aside from its mostly package-free produce, Ekoplaza has a good selection of items in jars with metal tops like yogurts, soups and peanut butter, which you would not be able to find plastic-free at most other grocers. Some Ekoplaza locations even have a bulk aisle so bring your own bag and get grains, nuts and chocolate-covered goodies package-free. There’s still a long way to go for Ekoplaza – and all the big grocers – in reducing packaging waste, but these guys are definitely off to a great start.
