Simple Zero Waste Swaps for Kids

As cute as they are, kids can make a lot of trash! Some swaps are super simple to make. Figure out which work for your household and get after it.

I have three small kids, so I’m the first to admit that kids make waste reduction harder. Lots of kid stuff is made of brightly-colored plastic that cannot be recycled and convenience often comes wrapped in plastic.

But, there are some zero waste swaps for kids that are really simple to do. Like switching from markers (unrecyclable, plus you leave the cap off and their toast) to colored pencils (no plastic, no caps to lose!) Many zero waste swaps for kids also encourage healthy eating and non-toxic alternatives, too. Win for our kids, win for their planet.
